For this Tuesday’s poetics prompt, we at DVerse are writing about “the end.” I wrote several poems on this topic and will share the one that I like best. It is in a form called a ninette, with 9 lines and a syllable count of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, ,2, 1. It seemed to go well with the theme.
One
Day life
Will cease, like
A candle, out
Out, brief! The wax looks
Like tears in eyes
Filled with grief —
Void of
Breath.
Nice! I can picture it like shots on a movie screen- the candle dripping- the tears dripping- the candle going out.
