For Frank J. Tassone’s haikai challenge about November rain. This is a tanka based on something that happened to me this morning. It actually did rain last night, so I was grateful for the poetic inspiration.
Do any of you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the world’s need? That’s how I am feeling this morning. Though the sky is physically getting brighter as the sun rises, I still am in pain for others’ pain. When I feel like this, writing poetry helps.
I hope you also enjoy reading this piece of my heart.
This morning sky’s tears
Reminded me if great need,
I slept late, woke up
Seeing a depth of sorrow,
Watching the sky, slowly, clear.
