For DVerse
My hometown — I was born here. I still live here. A lot has changed in 24 years: Instead of frequenting the book store –closed now — I visit way too many coffee shops, and from my favorite haunt, I walk to work. My new church, too, is just down another street.
So much has changed that I never would have believed it. But the biggest difference:
No longer feels like
Home — four walls claustrophobic,
Find peace restless soul
OUCH! My prayers for the restless soul.

It’s disconcerting when change happens…and there’s more to come. Love that you can walk to work!

Find your peace inside. Changes to anything very familiar to us, cause a lot of anguish.

When we don’t move, other things do, and that kind of puts us in a different place.

Sounds like you need to make a move! Very nice sounding town… Funny how when we are young we can’t wait to leave and when we are old we can’t wait to return~

It is a nice place. I just need to move out, once I can afford to!

When a place stops feeling like home it’s time to start thinking of leaving. Hope you get the cash together soon 🙂

Time to move out. This is sad when a bookstore closes. Sigh.

Oh you definitely need to move… you can always move back, but it’s hard to move if you are too old… (but I moved when I was forty)…

No matter how nice, any place feels claustrophobic after a while… You’ll appreciate it more when you’re away.

Best wishes on finding peace. At least it appears you can walk everywhere you want to go.

how cool (to me!) that you still live in your hometown, but I am sure the changes can be very upsetting. moving away may give you new adventures, but your heart will always be here. i like the style of your haiku, it echoed your haibun very well, with the halts in the right places making me pause to understand the depth of the words.

Your point about many coffee shops and few bookstores is right on. If you’re feeling restless, it’s a good sign that you’re ready for something new. Good luck! (K)
