  1. And I guess that is what confuses me. Why should anyone feel shame because someone else chooses to do something bad or harmful to them? I believe if there is shame it belongs solely to the aggressor, the abuser. Not to the victim. It is silence that isolates us, one from another. Not a sense of shame. We have lived far too long in a society that silences the victim by blaming her or him for what was done to them. The #MeToo movement is a concerted effort to put that perspective behind us, to raise awareness, to allow those silenced voices to speak and to be heard, and acknowledged.
