Mountains, Rainbows, and Scissors

For Mind Loves Misery’s Menagerie collage prompt

Only supposed to climb

The mountains I’m carrying —

Set them down.

Pick up a hot cup of tea

You didn’t sell your birthright for.

Look at the rainbow

(sometimes you can see it

even while the rain falls),

And remember that God promised

Never again

To destroy the world by a flood

Of tears —

Cut off the locks

Of hair covering your eyes

And see the orange sun-fire

In the off-white flower petals.
