I looked up derecho ; A derecho (/dəˈreɪtʃoʊ/, from Spanish: derecho [deˈɾetʃo], “straight” as in direction) is a widespread, long-lived, straight-line wind storm that is associated with a fast-moving group of severe thunderstorms known as a mesoscale convective system and potentially rivaling hurricanic and tornadic forces.
One of my internet joys is learning at least one new thing every day.
I hope you are safe… often when strong winds come – we have scattered smaller limbs of trees in our yard. But a few times trees have fallen across the creek… and we’ve had to get them out!
