The prompt for FDDA day 22 is “why writing matters to you.” In addition to writing poetry for this blog (and many other poems that will never see the light of day), I write daily in a journal and have done that on and off since I was 5. In my first journal entry, I wrote the Ys backwards, so I’ve basically been writing since before I could write! This poem is a Diamante about why I write.
Journal:
precious, detailed
remembering, preserving, keeping
record, memory, expression, connection
sharing, experimenting, opening
creative, honest —
