The Way to Write a Poem

I wanted to write a quadrille for DVerse (this week’s word is “way,” which is a very open-ended word), but I didn’t know how to start, so this was born.

Many ways to write a poem:
Find a form and fill in,
Let syllables make teams in a rhyme scheme,
Or — simply write and let words flow.
Always a great poem is attempted,
Wished, but we know not if it
Exists, until it’s finished.

  1. Absolutely love how you used the prompt for this week! And total truth! Some days my poems are created from forms others just flow. I never know which way it will go. Great job!
