Pages, an Expanse

I wrote this poem today for FOWC: Myriad and Fandango’s flash-fiction challenge #111.

A myriad of books before him,
He muses on where to begin,
He wonders where to find good memories
That patiently will keep him company
In his old age, for on the page
He finds delight both calm and sage.
He peruses expansive shelves
Containing facets of many selves:
Books are better than his phone,
For exploring the great unknown.

  1. I enjoyed this poem about a book lover… and those last 4 lines particularly do a good job of conveying the joys of reading. Books are definitely better than phones! Except for calling. I’ve never tried to call someone through a book.
