Brought Back to Life

Alive
Is the garden:
Red strawberries ripened,
Big black-and-yellow butterfly
Wings are
Open,
Scamper of lizards scurrying
And I am imbued too:
Feeling again
Alive

I’m definitely grateful to have spent a while outside today. It really does help. One frustrating aspect of struggling with depression, though, is that the actual, happy feeling doesn’t last long. I can and do go back and feel grateful for moments like this poem describes, but after a couple of hours I might not actually be able to feel happy about it, if that makes sense (by the way, I call it “leaky brain”). Good thing writing poems also helps!
