From an old poem,
And the search is quick:
Memory and heart to weep,
For the person who’d connected
With the plaintive, seeming-timeless lines —
That same person now knows much more deeply.
An etheree inspired by rereading this poem, for the first time in years, which I did a few days ago. I remembered the poem from my 10th- or 11th-grade language arts book, although only a couple of fragments, and for whatever reason, I thought about those fragments again the other day. I was so happy to find the poem again! It hit me pretty hard upon reading it again after all this time, though. Please follow the link above to read it for yourself.
Update: shared with the Writers’ Pantry this week.
