Words as a Weapon

I decided to join in One-Liner Wednesday this week, and here is mine:

My pen is a sword which keeps the monsters at bay.

It’s just something I thought this morning. It doesn’t always help 100%, but writing never fails to help me feel at least a little bit better, or at least more productive. Sometimes poetry is a fun game for me, especially when I’m trying a specific form, and other times it’s a lifeline. I suppose that, sometimes, it is both. I wrote an “atom poem” about this: a really short form with 5 7 5 letters per line. Linking to Dark Side of the Moon’s latest post because she introduced me to the form, and I often find new forms from reading her poetry.
