This poem was inspired by yesterday’s SoCS, but I didn’t write it until today. It surprises me how difficult it seemed to write a post starting with the word, “If.”
If none of this Covid stuff ever happened,
If fear didn’t let it get out of proportion,
Maybe I wouldn’t feel hopeless so often.
Maybe I’d still have my tutoring job,
With no year-and-a-half of trying to rob
Life out of life, and smiles from faces.
Yet haven’t I seen lovely friendships form,
As we have weathered this worldwide storm,
Joy sprouting from unexpected places?
