Mercy

I began this Chaucerian stanza yesterday and finished it this afternoon. It’s not for any prompt (“sneaky” was one of the prompt words a few days ago), but I feel like posting it anyway. 🙂

Behold: A lowly sinner most in need,
Fallen again in not-so-sneaky sin.
The chains that bind are forged by Satan’s greed
And man’s concupiscence, the Fall within.
But look: Grace more abounds and can begin
At any time to heal the heart contrite,
And fill it with the hope of Heaven’s light.
