Kindness Which I Still Remember

It’s that time of week again: Flashback Friday. I looked back into one of my oldest poetry notebooks to find something to share today. This was written back in 2016, and I wrote a note next to it, that it was inspired by the fact that I opened up to one of my Christian mentors in college about my struggles.

Thank you for your kindness, real love and care,
Opening your heart and time to need,
Listening to all kinds of distress,
Extending an open hand in prayer.
From my earthly cares I’m freed,
As you for me open a safe space,
You in your care profoundly bless,
And I see God’s kind face.
