Welcome to Tuesday evening on my blog. Regular readers may be able to predict that I have a Sijo to share tonight. This week’s theme is Inspiration.
Whether it’s the adorable birds outside, or the scorching heat,
Whether moments of peace and gratitude, or deep depression,
If a poem comes out of it, no experience is wasted.
I’ve been trying to embrace whatever happens for quite a while. Sometimes I am successful and other times… not so much! However, you’ll often hear me say, “At least I got a poem out of it!”
Another prompt today that I want to embrace is the phrase tuna salad. No idea how to put that into a poem, but I do like tuna salad sandwiches, especially on Fridays. 🙂
It reminds me of that Carpenter’s song: “It’s such a dirty old shame/ when all you get from love is a love song/ because the best love songs/ are written with a broken heart”

I love your sijo. If you’re not already aware of it, you might be interested in the 2022 Sejong International Sijo competition (deadline the end of this month): https://www.sejongculturalsociety.org/isijo/index.php.
They also sponsor a competition in the winter that’s open to US and Canadian residents. Both competitions have generous cash prizes.
Take care! Stephanie
