This poem is inspired by both the WordPress daily prompt, which is “continue,” and Jilly’s new September collaborative poetry challenge. I wrote one rubai, a quatrain with a rhyme scheme of aaba, and anyone is welcome to add another rubai to it!
When it seems all hope is faded, gone,
We must make up our minds to carry on,
As heart beats ever steady as a drum,
As doting doe spurs on her newborn fawn.

Jilly’s is hosting a collaborative poetry opportunity this August, and this poem is the completed version of Frank Hubeny’s poem Lady, Green and Red. His half is in blue, and my addition is in red.
Lady loved the plants’ light green
With flowers brightly red.
Her face angelically serene
Had leaves to shade her head.
The leaves become her regal crown,
They bend to do her will,
She wears her beautiful red gown,
But she is silent, still.
