This is for Linda G. Hill’s coloring club for this month. I colored it today.
There once was a cat on a cloud
Who loved to take in night’s dark shroud,
Because all the stars
And planets like Mars
Finally to shine were allowed.
I made up the limerick off the top of my head because why not. I know planets don’t shine, but in my colorful dream-world they do. 🙂
I wrote this acrostic for FOWC: Trite, and the other poem is a bonus, not prompted but it made me smile writing it, and I hope it makes you smile also. 😀 Continue reading
Since today is Halloween, I wanted to share some of my coloring, before the day is over. Sharing again with the coloring club. The designs in this coloring book are often bizarre and outlandish, but they never fail to make me smile! I’m not sure what (or if) I’m doing anything to celebrate today, but I hope you have a happy and spooky Halloween!
This is for Linda G. Hill’s coloring club for this month. I have colored several pictures, and here is one of them, plus part of another.
I also wrote a poem inspired partly by the coloring pages, since they can be quite fantastical! We color within the lines but can choose any picture we want. 🙂 Sharing with today’s Writers’ Pantry.
The rules say color within the lines,
But the artist’s mind divines
How to within the form be free,
Or to trash it, if need be:
These rules don’t dictate what to draw —
Let one’s artistry be raw —
Nor which colors one must use.
If some are fixed, there’s more to choose!
For FFFC #79.
A deer drinks from a birdbath,
Antlers reach the tree leaves
But his feet don’t leave
The ground — the sound
Of the songbirds’ singing
Intrigues him, and he marvels
At the beauty of other beings.
Inspired by the Weekly Scribblings and by the page that I colored, I wrote this poem. The coloring will be shared with Linda G. Hill’s coloring club, and I’m also linking this to Fandango’s dog days of August #6 because cats are pets. 🙂
I wear my heart on my sleeve
So swift to sadden but even
Quicker to smile or grin —
From cats’ cuteness to cupcakes
Or ice cream’s scoop of delight,
I look at the stars and see
Of sweetness there’s a galaxy.
For DVerse Poetics “Flights of Fancy” and inspired by something I saw in my family’s garden yesterday.
The finch perches
On the back of a sunflower,
As she awaits her turn
At the filled feeder:
She finds her chance
And when she flies
The flower dances springily back,
In true sunflower fashion;
The finch uses the free
Surplus of birdseed
To fuel more of her
Flight and avian dreams.
This is for Linda G. Hill’s coloring club. No poem with it this time. 🙂 I’ve written a little bit today but nothing that I want to share.
Enjoy this adorable picture!
This was meant to be just for Linda G. Hill’s coloring club this month, but then I realized — shockingly — that I could also write a poem inspired by the picture. Linking to the Weekly Scribblings, where we explore “when all else fails.”
When I feel like I’m drowning,
When my lungs pound to be let out
Of their cage, I find a place
Where I can breathe underwater.
When all else appears to fail,
Find where cats with mermaid tails
Play and swim, and simply dream:
For a moment flow with the silly whim.
Hoping to spread some cheer with my coloring!
I had to choose between 2 pictures this month, and I continue to color more pictures, as this chapter of staying at home and social distancing is not yet finished. I hope the world is not too chaotic and that things can get back to normal (or better than “normal!”) soon.
