Where the Mind Dwells

Thanks to Brian for last week’s prompt, “where the mind dwells.” Yesterday I finished writing this. đŸ™‚

Over and over, rehearsing
All the ways I am not worthy,
Passing down a death penalty:
Over and over, rehearsing
Doom, so afraid of suffering,
Forgetting all that is lovely —
Over and over rehearsing
All the ways I am not worthy.

It is work, this remembering
To recognize infernal lies:
Daily to trip me despair tries.
It is work, this remembering
To fight, recall what joys days bring,
Do not forever close your eyes.
It is work, this remembering
To recognize infernal lies.
